Hernán Escudero Álvarez

Experiencia

Hernán focuses his practice on dispute resolution. He has acted as counsel in several judicial, arbitration and administrative proceedings regarding constitutional, civil and employment matters. He has also represented clients in mediation processes. Hernán has advised clients on complex transnational transactions and public international law issues. He is currently assistant lecturer in the courses of introduction to contract law and property law at Universidad San Francisco de Quito. In 2021, he attended the Hague Academy of International Law´s Winter Courses on International Law.

Hernán has a number of academic publications. In July 2021, he published an article entitled “The ratification of the ICSID Convention and the possible signing of bilateral investment treaties in light of the Ecuadorian Constitution” in the Journal of the Ecuadorian Center for International Studies.

While studying law at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Hernán was associate editor of the USFQ Law Review and member of the editorial board. He also participated in the national and international arbitration moot competitions and the Jean Pictet competition on International Humanitarian Law.
